You can actually use a 24x24 area to use 8 wind turbines in a square, and though the average power output from this setup is a lot less than if you would just fill it up with solar generators, you still have such a large space to use for other things, be it farming, solar generators etc. Additionally, as far as I know there’s no event that makes wind turbines useless (like the eclipse for solar generators). Thus, the only space that you’re really ‘taking up’ with a wind turbine is a 5x2 area.
